Compare before you buy (same job, clearer fit)

Side-by-side compare is a premium move in apps like EWG Healthy Living. Here’s the household version without a fear leaderboard.

Comparison features fail when they rank unrelated products on a single “safety” vibe. They work when both options share a job: two dish soaps, two daily lotions, two kids’ sunscreens.

The compare template

  1. Job — what must this product do?
  2. Constraints — budget, store, fragrance watch, kid storage.
  3. Label facts — first ingredients / actives / warnings.
  4. Household history — did we already like one?

Where shop links fit

If you buy online after a compare, prefer tools that disclose affiliate relationships. Disclosure ≠ buying the score.

IngreView bias: compare is a decision surface. Money can ride the decision honestly. It cannot rewrite the educational layer.

Related: cleaner swaps, scores never for sale.

Educational context only — not medical, dietary, or allergy advice. Always verify allergens and safety-critical information on the product package and with qualified professionals when needed.
